1. Bad things: do not walk to anything at night (and I grew up on Chicago's southside so I'm no scardy cat); expensive wi-fi that didn't work; terrible bed & pillows that smelled used; HVAC system that smelled like it was on fire when the heat was on.

2. From the outside it seemed something like a 'Hampton Inn' but on the inside this was a classy, young, swank place.

3. I was really not sure what to expect when I booked the Chicago South Loop Hotel - from the pictures, it didn't look like anything too impressive and the location didn't seem too hot, but the price was just right.

4. One of the main benefits was the free parking, which is rare in a big city like Chicago.

5. Typically I like to stay closer to the trains, but parking was free and there is not much going on in this neighborhood so I probably won't recommend walking last at night alone for the average tourist.
