A ceiling fan and air conditioning (which had the habit of getting a bit noisy, perhaps because it was a little old, and which is the sole reason why the stay didn't get a full five starts) kept the room at a good temperature (the adjacent room had a newer air conditioning unit, so perhaps they are progressively being replaced).

2. The hotel has a chain property in Hilo named Hilo Seaside Hotel, however the Kona property is definitely much newer.

3. The hotel seemed cleaner than a couple of years ago and our tower room had newer carpet and was freshly painted.
