1. Walmart across the way and loads more shops the further you walk up the road (Denny's for cheap meals - though seen better days, MacDonalds and nicer restaurants a bit further.

2. I was moved quickly into room 2606 which has a better view (and fruit basket waiting), not looking at a building right in front of you with a little view of the ocean at the 10'oclock position as they originally gave us, when I specificallly called the hotel days before and my contact in Orlando and requested a proper ocean view.

3. I called Orlando and got my contact on the phone there, in 10 minutes or less I started receiving treatment better than a $40 a night motel, more consistent with a 4-5 star hotel.

5. Overall, it was very average and we think we can find something better (for maybe a slightly higher price) when we return next year.

6. As a side note, the last two years I have stayed in Fort Lauderdale at their Hilton and despite being an older property I would have to say that this is better for families since it is directly on the beach, the in room washer/dryer, the pool is much more kid-friendly since it is zero-entry, and the beach people really cater to the kids.
"Wonderful hotel--hands down best in Miami for families!!! " Read full review on TripAdvisor   2/3/2010 Vote
7. I expected better.

9. The signage at the front of the hotel could be better - as it is easy to miss when you are driving down Collins Ave.
"Finally a room for a family of 5 " Read full review on TripAdvisor   8/3/2009 Vote
10. Overall, the facility and service was much better than what I have experienced at other hotels, but I have never had to call the front desk as many times as what I did on this trip.
