7. If you want to stay on the Gold Coast, may I suggest a real hotel such as The Lotus, or new Otani and avoid the run down, old Diamond Head Beach Hotel.

The individual A/C was new, there was a decent sized fridge, new furniture and 'art' hanging on the walls, the lobby area was nice, and the place was fairly secure but don't let the Bath & Body Works shampoo/bar soap nor the 8am 'breakfast knock on the door' get you to pay too much for this place.

9. The next time I'm there, I will check out hotels in the same general vicinity (the new Otani looked nice and reasonably priced), but will definitely avoid the Diamond Head Beach Hotel.
