1. We were in room 11, and although we loved the room, it had two downsides with not being very far west:a) late at night we would occasionally hear loud/drunk people walking along the boardwalk; Being further west would have alleviated this problem by not only being further from the boardwalk, but also the wave crashes would have been louder further west, thus muffling boardwalk noise even more.

2. With the windows & door open, the waves were very LOUD and made it hard to sleep if you're not used to a lot of noise.

9. I imagine cottages further out on the pier aren`t as susceptible to this problem but there you do get more ocean noise, so it`s a trade-off.
