The
problem
was that the room was noisy: it was on the forth (top) floor and the HVAC units must have been perched right above, because they growled, hammered and switch on and off all night long.

I had a single room with a shared bath and never had a
problem
getting into the bathroom, which was just 2 doors away from my room.
