Rooms were really dirty, smelled like smoke, shady people constantly roaming the halls and parking lot, hallway room doors propped open - as soon as we walked in, people next door told us about bugs in the rooms (we didn't see any in ours, but freaked us out enough to make our kids keep their socks and shoes on even after we tore down the beds looking).
