1. The odor was fairly faint inside the room itself, but the malfunctioning air conditioner would obviously have made sleep impossible (we actually like the white noise from loud AC units, but this one had been kicked in or something, and the resulting rattle was unacceptable).

3. We heard all the traffic and emergency sirens from the street - we even heard the street noises over the incredibly loud window a/c unit.
