2. - generally its pretty quiet but since the building is old the insulation isn't overly great so you will hear the odd door slamming, stomping up the hall way, tv too loud or in our case a chick who brought home some guy, did the deed then proceeded to throw up her guts for half an hour.

4. And yes, a city like San Francisco is loud, especially in the morning, but it never hindered me from sleeping well and the only noise in the hotel was the elevator - so you should ask for a room that is not directly next to it.

5. The first two nights our room was right next to the shared bathroom/shower, and people are showering at all hours of the night, so you can hear it loud and clear.
