1. What it lacked in amenities of bigger chain hotels it more than made up for in it's North Beach (nowhere near a beach) section of San Francisco.

2. We had a room at the back so we had less noise but more sleep and because it backed almost directly to the next building it did lack natural light and a view however it did not bother us because we didnt plan to spend all day looking out of our hotel window.
