1. We parked just up the street, for free, and never felt unsafe in the area.

2. The hotel is in a quiet area on the weekend but we got off the tram after 1:am, walked back to the hotel and never felt unsafe.

3. It is located in a not very nice part of town but we never felt unsafe even after walking from the People Mover station to our hotel at 11pm.

4. While the hotel's not in the best part of town - it's important to remember that Detroit has quite a desolate and empty downtown, although hardly an unsafe district (just empty) - and the hotel itself was in what seemed like a very safe area, about a minute from the nearby People Mover station.
