5. Nice sitting area with uncomfortable (hardly a deal-breaker) sofa and a couple of chairs, TV, fridge and microwave as well as complimentary coffee and tea.

8. While the hotel's not in the best part of town - it's important to remember that Detroit has quite a desolate and empty downtown, although hardly an unsafe district (just empty) - and the hotel itself was in what seemed like a very safe area, about a minute from the nearby People Mover station.
