1. Fortunately, it wasn't an issue, and I didn't see any while I was there at all, but it could have been a problem I guess (my wife is very allergic to cats).

2. As a boutique I imagine that they do not have a 24 hour engineer on staff to address these issues and so by the time I reported both problems, it was too late to rectify as I was staying for only one night.
