When I walked into the Iron Horse Hotel and saw its inviting, large lobby with a mix of beat up leather couches (and eclectic mix of furniture and banquettes) with huge, decorative brass tacks, a fun use of industrial detritus for decoration (in perfect harmony with the rough hewn building itself) I was not reminded of other boutique hotels in America but the Paradors of Spain (this is a Good Thing).

2. To find a hotel catering to people with individual thought, outside the mainstream and still tasteful is truly a diaond in the rough, yet our experience would not have been as deep without Richard.

3. This hotel is really a diamond in the rough - it was nice to return to after a long day of work, and very close to shops and restuarants in the third ward and downtown for night life.

The staff usher you with genuine delight over your presence with them into a lobby that is simultaneously post-modern and historic, and the combination of smells from a variety of intended sources is intoxicating, including rough-sawn hard-wood floor tiles, the authentically old wood and steel building materials, the oil candles and the food from the kitchen.
