1. The room was bigger but still felt old and dirty and looking out the window we could see the dirty area around the hotel.

In the hotel's defense, it was undergoing major construction during my stay; however, that did not account for a dirty bathroom, cold water for the morning shower, and absolutely NO perks for HHonors members - no complimentary Internet, bonus points, breakfast vouchers, room upgrades, not even a bottle of water.

3. And I don't mean tropical humidity, old building dirty (which I am very aware of as my immediate family has lived in Hawaii for a very long time and I can distinguish the difference), I mean the cleaning crew is not cleaning dirty.

Double Tree Alana needs to have warm, friendly service upon check in, the valet service when pulling up told us "Valet is only for hotel guest" without even asking "Aloha, are you checking in today?" The hallways to your room felt as if I was at Best Western Motel, the carpets are dirty, the view is overlooking a hostel place which made feel unsecured if you were to leave your lanai/patio door open, the valet service was too expensive $22.
