1. The sheets did not fit the bed, due to the fact that some kind of mattress topper had been added, no doubt in an attempt to extend the life of a worn out mattress and box spring.

2. The sheets were severely worn, and nappy due to overuse, like flannel even though they were not flannel, and I could see through them.
