There was:* Vomit on wall* Blood on the bed sheets* A dirty towel hanging up* Semen crusted on the chair* Clumps of hair in bathroom* Mold in shower* A dead mouse outside the door (in later stages of decomposition) Realizing that we could not stay here, we began calling other hotels and trying to find a place
downtown
that had vacancies for the weekend and accepted large dogs.

We did take taxis at nite to get back to the hotel, $5-7 depending on where you were at
downtown
but worth it after you 've had a full meal at IHOP also on Canal street, acroos from the CVS (another one of our stops).

The streets
downtown
in this area are narrow and we were pulling a trailer - it was right down the street from the Cruise Ship terminals so very convenient for us since that was our destination.

Since we are not party people, we will probably stay away from the
downtown
area on our next visit.

I did have a rental vehicle (w/my own GPS) for my stay, since I needed to visit our office in the 'burbs, but if you intend to stay around
downtown
, the quarter, or the warehouse/convention district, I would recommend taking a cab instead.
"Consistent Residence Inn experience, but could use a an upgrade. "
