1. Right in the heart of Venice Beach it offers fabulous views, many great restaurants and interesting neighborhoods within walking distance, Bus service is also easy and convenient to beaches both north and south.

2. The neighborhood is dark and silent at night but I felt safe in it so I'd say check in get the wife and kids situated and go park that car in the neighborhood and just walk back to your room and save yourself some cash.

The staff was absolutely wonderful - everyone that we dealt with there was friendly, helpful, eager to please, and very knowledgable about the neighborhood, restaurants, transportation, etc. They accomodated us whenever we had a special request with no grumbling and no extra charges (for example, when we got there hours before check-in, they watched our bags in the office and called us on our cell phone as soon as a room was ready, and then checked us in ASAP).
