8. We had asked the hotel manager to pay for the treatment of our luggage, just in case any bedbugs had caught a ride home on any of the pieces.

9. The manager refunded our money for the night's stay, but told me during a phone conversation a few days later that the hotel's exterminating company said that the bedbug in the bag was simply the remnants of a human's bloody scab and was not a bedbug.
