3. I'd give the hotel 2 stars just because it was pretty run down but I wouldn't have an issue staying there again because the rate was great and it was only a 10 minute walk to the mag.

4. All places we checked were really expensive and we were lucky enough to find the Howard Johnson at a very reasonable rate.

5. We stayed at the Howard Johnson on a recent busy weekend in Chicago, and loved that this was downtown and close to public transportation and good food, etc. The rates were a little high, but not too bad for summer in Chicago.

6. The hotel does not seem to have been updated for decades - which is kinda quaint (and probably makes it easier to snag those good rates sometimes) - but also kinda sad.

7. Aside from the low prices (which don't really strike me as low, considering rates were hovering around $125+), the free parking and the obvious location placement - this joint is pretty much a dump.

9. I called the hotel and the manager adjusted the rate for the last night of our stay (which was a Friday and more expensive) to match the other two nights, making the savings within dollars of each other if we had booked at the cheaper rate online.
