1. We booked our rooms through priceline and paid less than $40 a night so the price was good about half the rack rate on the day.

4. The windows were soundproof, the sheets and pillows high-quality, the wake-up call came exactly when asked for, and the breakfast (which was included in our rate) was, again, better than expected.

6. After he picked me up we went to the hotel where I was told I didn't get the coupon I needed to get the distressed passenger rate, but I assume the woman working the clerk saw the exhaustion and distressed look on my face and helped sort it out.

8. My son was ill and I asked how much it would be to keep one of the rooms for a further hour and was quoted $49 + tax which seemed excessive compared to the rate we had paid.
