Smackdab in the 14th
Street
district, there is plenty of food and some shopping to choose from, although the recession has hit a few smaller boutique stores hard- a cherished chocolate shop closed since our last visit.

One
street
over though is P
Street
, which has some nice shops and a Whole Foods Market, which is a kind of gourmet supermarket.

I would also recommending Logan's Tavern Around the corner on P
Street
for a great meal and if you want something more casual to take to your room there is Whole Foods on P
Street
too.

I was able to park for free on the
street
b/c of the days I traveled, but the garage was reasonable and had in/out privileges which is always helpful.

The beds were comfortable enough but there was a doubletree hotel across the
street
that probably would have been better appointed for just a few dollars more.

The location is great and there are wonderful restaurants just a short walk from the hotel, and the quiet, tree lined
street
is great for a nice walk.

We went to the Helix because it is across the
street
from my daughters apartment and we wanted a comfortable place for my 92, (now 93), year old mom.
