The bathroom was caked in dirt, dirty cracked wash-basin, bath/shower base was impregnated with grime, rust stains down back of door, carpets had not been cleaned, pile up of dirt/rubbish around skirtings of the room, nasty damp smell was disguised with air freshener, ceilings/walls badly repaired, a bed was collapsed to one side, lumpy mattresses.
