We love staying close to marinas in California, but so many Santa barbara hotels were way too
expensive
.

We needed to reserve for two nights (per motel requirements at this time of year), and being on a weekend in the middle of the summer, it was a lot more
expensive
than we've ever spent on a hotel before.

In all the other places we stayed in big 5 star hotels, but not in Santa Barbara, partly because they don`t exist and partly because Santa Barbara seems to be one of the most
expensive
places I have ever visited .
