1. 95 or free for Gold and Platinum members)- Nice lounge area and pool area; seemed to be fairly lively- Very convenient to Interstate 5 (about a minute)- There are a few good restaurants as well as a Vons supermarket 5-7 minutes away by car (turn right when exiting the hotel, go past the interstate and keep going on El Camino Real and you get into a very upscale suburban Torrey Pines/Del Mar area and will see the Vons shopping center)- Very close drive to Del Mar and Solana Beach areas- Fairly convenient (15 minutes) to La JollaThe bad:- There is almost nothing within walking distance - the hotel is in an office park area- There is a bad restaurant (Tio Leos -- something like that) which is within walking distance -- but I tried it and do not recommend it- Hotel restaurant (Arterra) is decent but overpriced; service was also slow and somewhat unprofessional- If you need to go to San Diego (downtown), this isn't the ideal place to stay; count on about 25 minutes or more if there is a traffic problem- Hotel seems to cater to a lot of business conferences; attracts a certain type of person (as one reviewer aptly pointed out, the lounge is full of sleazy, narcissistic business men and gold-digger women -- and perhaps ditto business women and gold-digging men)- Not really the best choice for a romantic getaway or a family vacation, unless you needed/wanted to be close to Del Mar; better suited for business travel- The doors make very loud sound when opening and closing; halls can be loud -- bring ear plugs if you don't want to be awakened early- Parking is ample (covered deck) but expensive -- $20 per night.

2. If you need to be closer to downtown, the Marriott Gaslamp District is the best of any Marriott property in all of San Diego, however it is also usually the most expensive.

8. The OK: I found the food and wine in the hotel restaurant to be pretty expensive compared to other hotels that I've stayed in, they charge for wireless internet and finding the correct network to use took a little time (I think they had three different stations broadcasting but only one allowed you to sign up for internet).
