3. (They claim to have checked with Apple and to have been told the laptop is still covered under the warranty; which is technically true, as long as something goes wrong that they can't blame the dropping of the laptop for.

We advised him (as we had in our written complaint) that while the laptop appeared to be working fine for the moment, dropping it voided the warranty (which I had paid an extra $300 for), and that anything that goes wrong with the laptop in the future is going to be blamed on the laptop having been dropped (this has happened to my partner before).
