1. It smelled, the beds were not comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was awful, we had to stoop to get under the shower head, there was no A/C (which I wasn't made aware of at the time of booking) to get air we had to open the window but then we did we could see and HEAR our neighbors.

Just think of not being able to sleep because of the noise and crimes, the kids who LIVE at the property playing in the parking lot, the room that smell like smoke and pine, the unsafe sliding glass window in the bathroom that can be opened outside, allowing strangers to enter your room or the fact that the front desk closes at 10pm because the owners have kids.
