1. But besides the shopping mall, the neighborhood is great and has good means of transportation to downtown Houston and other interesting parts of the city and region.

2. Here is a very big upside to staying in the galleria area as opposed to downtown: Almost all of the downtown hotels use valet parking which is around $28 per day.
