2. Downtown Dallas is a reasonable (if occassionally hair-raising) drive down the freeway and the Galleria (which is a fairly large, but very pedestrian shopping mall) is also only a couple of exits and a traffic tie up or two around the beltway.

5. ) The hotel is kind of circular and all rooms face inside - and there are no long hallways to walk, etc.The hotel is certainly nowhere near downtown Dallas but is located somewhat close to a DART (light rail train) station, though not quite close enough to walk and I wouldn't try.
