1. I slept on a friend's couch and found a room at another hotel at 3x the cost (convention in town) and Emerald wouldn't do anything to compensate me.

As for the rooms, he's what you do - buy a gazillion internet cables online, in bulk, cost you a max of $3 per 3mtr cable, keep them in a big box behind reception, charge $10 deposit to guests which is refunded when they bring it back, a large proportion wont bother bringing them back and you'll soon recoup the initial cost of the original purchase, who knows you might even make a profit.

4. They are obsessed with their 'special' keys at this place, $5 key deposit which MUST be paid by credit card, on departure they refund the card back, OK it's a bit silly but no cost to me I guess, but if you were a foreign visitor paying a hefty card transaction fee every time, I suspect I'd get a little annoyed at these little pointless transactions, and surely it's costing the hotel a fair bit in Visa/M'card charges as well.

5. We booked for a week and left within 24 hours pointing out the problems to the management only to find they charged my credit card 1/3 of what my whole stay would have cost (this is after a partial refund).

7. It would cost sod all, cheap as chips, so just get on with it and stop apologizing to guests all the time.

8. I've stayed at overpriced places such as the Bellagio and Mandalay Bay where one night costs me more than double what I paid to stay at the Emerald Suites for 3 days.
