1. Outings included driving up to the volcano - spectacular and will do it again, the Maui Ocean Centre - fabulous and will do it again.

If I were to go back to Maui I would: look no place any further, take friends and family with me, get an ocean view, stay long, rent snorkeling gear, beach chair and umbrella on the first day, enjoy the hotel, its beach and closeness to Wailea and Kihei shopping and restaurants, fall sleep to the sound of ocean.

4. We did a very good western ocean view where we saw two humpback whales swimming a few hundred yards off the beach early in the morning.

5. We stayed in unit #514 (Superior Ocean View)and rented the whole unit, so I can comment on both.

6. The lawn chair lounges were a really nice way to spend some time resting and reading between swims in the ocean and the pool and noshing at happy hour at the on-site Five Palms restaurant.

In no way would I recommend this hotel to anyone - upon booking via internet - was assured of clen - attractive - ocean veiw room - ended up in room that left a lot to be desired - couldn't walk around bed without turning sideways - windows broken and coudl not open - upon alerting staff was told 'for 50 bucks we can get you a really nice room!' and 'no manager on duty' - by the way, it was a Saturday afternoon in June 2008 at checkin time.

9. Please don't worry about the no A/C - you leave the huge sliding glass doors open 24/7 and the Ocean breeze keeps it just perfect - not only that you can hear the waves continuously all night long.
